Recovery Can Happen is an NCCPSS training program designed to prepare participants to become Certified Peer Support Specialists—individuals who use their lived experience with recovery to support others navigating mental health and substance use challenges.

This 50-hour interactive training helps participants build the skills, confidence, and professional foundation needed to provide peer support services in behavioral health settings. Full attendance and participation are required for all five days of training.

About the Training

This five-day training combines discussion, group activities, and real-world scenarios to prepare participants for the responsibilities of peer support work.

Participants learn how to:

  • Understand the role of a Peer Support Specialist

  • Work within multidisciplinary care teams

  • Navigate behavioral health systems and community resources

  • Maintain professional ethics and boundaries

  • Resolve conflict and communicate effectively

  • Support others through recovery-centered approaches

Who Should Apply

Recovery Can Happen is intended for individuals with lived experience in mental health and/or substance use recovery who are interested in supporting others in their recovery journey.

Participants should:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Have a high school diploma or GED

  • Be willing to use lived experience appropriately in a professional setting

  • Be able to fully participate in the training experience

Prior behavioral health experience is not required.

Registration Process

  1. Complete the online registration process at the above link.

  2. Kellin Foundation staff will review submissions and follow up regarding eligibility, class availability, and next steps.

  3. Accepted participants may be asked to complete additional paperwork prior to the start of training.

Because this is a 50-hour training experience, full attendance and participation are required.

Submitting a registration form does not guarantee placement in the course.
