A report by the World Health Organization estimates that by 2030, one in six people in the world, or 1.4 billion, will be aged 60 or over (WHO, 2023). The U.S. population is older than ever, with an estimated 16.8% aged 65 and up (U.S. Census Bureau, 2020). These statistics underscore an urgency to acknowledge and provide support for the mental health needs of an aging population. In this workshop you will explore what trends are being revealed, the mental health concerns of older adults, and recommended supports and resources.
Kellin Foundation's Provider Academy is a series of free workshops for all behavioral health and substance abuse providers and peer support specialists to gain current information about mental health and continuing education credit hours. Addiction counselors and peer support specialists receive 1.5 NCSAPPB General Skill Building Hours for each session.
