Carmen is the Area HR Specialist at Consolidated Container Company.  She also has extensive Human Resources experience, previously serving as the Human Resources Manager for Dougherty Equipment Company.

Jessica Dalton, Secretary of the Board

Jessica Dalton is the Senior Director of Specialty Leasing for Tanger Outlets, where she negotiates short term deals with small businesses and entrepreneurs.   She leads the Stanley’s Samaritans program at Tanger Outlets, organizing volunteer activities for her co-workers to serve in the community. ​

Shawn Hutchinson, Treasurer to the Board 
Shawn is a tax senior manager in KPMG LLP’s Greensboro office. He has more than ten years of experience providing tax compliance and consulting services to nonprofit clients.  Shawn acts as a tax advisor to several colleges and universities, healthcare entities, and other exempt organizations in the Southeast.

Dr. Kelly Graves, Executive Director

Born in Chicago, Dr. Graves is the co-founder and volunteer Director of the Kellin Foundation.  She is a licensed psychologist in the state of North Carolina.  After serving as a tenured Associate Professor for a combined almost 16 years at UNCG and North Carolina A&T, Dr. Graves decided to pursue her passion of bridging research and practice by hanging up her academia hat to build a community-based behavioral health center.  Since that time, the Kellin Foundation has been named a partner with the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) for its expertise in community-based trauma recovery for children and families.  Dr. Graves is a consultant with the United States Department of Justice and has been invited to the White House under the Obama Administration to participate in think tank efforts around building community resiliency.  She is also a training consultant with the UNC-CH School of Social Work’s AHEC Training Partnership. She has successfully implemented dozens of large-scale grants totally over $10 million dollars focused on community change, and is an accomplished scholar with dozens of peer-reviewed publications, books, and book chapters. She co-developed the Greensboro Child Response Initiative, which is nationally-recognized model by the US Department of Justice for best practices in responding to children exposed to violence. Her awards include the American Psychological Association Division 56 Trauma award, the Triad Business Journal Top 40 Leaders Under 40 award, named as a Top Psychologist award with the International Association of Health Care Professionals, and several others.  In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family and friends, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and reading. ​

Dwight K. Crotts

​Dwight retired from the Greensboro Police Department as a Deputy Chief of Police in 2014, where he served for 25 years.  Prior to joining the Greensboro Police Department, he worked for the Thomasville Police Department.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Shaw University and a Master of Public Affairs degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  He is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville in Kentucky and the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. After retiring from the Greensboro Police Department, he went to work at Goodwill Industries of Central NC, Inc., where he currently serves as the Compliance Director.

Dwight has been involved in many collaborative partnerships including the formation of the Greensboro Child Response Initiative and the Alternative Identification Initiative through FaithAction International House.   He also served in a variety of volunteer programs, including Communities in Schools as a reading tutor, Junior Achievement, and Special Olympics. Dwight is married to his wife Lisa and is the father of two wonderful daughters.

Marian F. Earls, MD, MTS, FAAP
Marian Earls is board-certified in both General Pediatrics and Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. She is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics for the University of North Carolina Medical School.  Her career has focused on Medicaid and EPSDT policy and quality implementation in practice.   As of 2020 she has established Marian F Earls Consulting, LLC, focused on: (1) implementation of pediatric population processes in practice for: early childhood development, infant and early childhood mental health, mental health competencies for pediatric practice, mental health integration in pediatric primary care, trauma-informed care, and addressing social determinants of health, and (2) Cross sector collaboration and systems-based approaches to support this work at the community and state level.  She is a liaison from the AAP to the AACAP (American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) Collaborative and Integrated Care Committee.  She was a member of the Executive Committee of the AAP’s Council on Early Childhood (2011-2017).  She is Chair of the Mental Health Leadership Work Group of the AAP that is charged with national dissemination of mental health integration in primary care pediatrics. She is currently faculty on the Pediatric Integrated Care Collaborative working with teams from multiple states, “Strengthening the Role of Primary Care for Families with Young Children Experiencing Trauma or Chronic Stress,” with Johns Hopkins and funded by a grant from SAMHSA.  She was national co-chair and Improvement Advisor for the AAP’s national Bright Futures Preventive Services Improvement Project, in 2015-2016.   She is a member of the AAP National Advisory Board on Screening and is Chair of the ASHEW (Addressing Social-emotional Health and Early Childhood Wellness) Learning Collaborative Project Advisory Committee.   She is currently Faculty Chair for the HRSA–funded Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems Grant 12-state project. She is a member of the ADHD Guidelines Committee for the AAP and was one of the authors of the 2010 and 2019 ADHD Guidelines.  
Dr. Earls received her A.B. in Biology in 1976 from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, her Master of Theological Studies (MTS) in 1978 from Harvard Divinity School, Harvard University, and her M.D. from the University of Massachusetts in 1984.

Marva Edwards, CEO, Pastor

​Marva is the founder and CEO of MOM Ministries II, a domestic violence outreach ministry. Marva served in the Pastoral ministry at Deliverance Tabernacle of Truth Outreach Ministries for 19 years in the city of Greensboro N.C.  She transitioned from pastoring a congregation and is now pastoring in a non-traditional sense, Marva is working in the area of outreach under MOM Ministries II as well as with New Beginnings International Fellowship where she also serves as a board member. Marva is currently a student at Vintage Bible College. Her greatest joy is her family and the work she continues in ministry.

Dr. K. Michie Harriss Dew
Michie is a licensed psychologist who retired as co-founder, President and as an senior practicing psychologist at Carolina Psychological Associates, P. A. in August of 2019 after over 30 years of clinical practice and management of behavioral health care services  in the Greensboro area.  She obtained her B. A. degree from Hollins University and both her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.  She has worked extensively with children, adolescents, and adults in addition to leading the management team of her practice prior to retirement.  She has also volunteered extensively through her church and faith affiliated organizations as well as multiple area agencies including those that address health care in Greensboro and Guilford County, the physical and emotional needs of foster children, refugee resettlement, the provision of food to those in need and serving as a mentor through the Cities in Schools program.  Additionally, she has worked in voter registration drives through the League of Women Voters and worked to promote gun sense and safety.  She is married and has two adult children, two (soon to be three) grandchildren and two grand dogs.  In her spare time, she loves to go to the beach, love on her cats, and enjoy friends and Zumba.

Emily Hedrick

Emily is a Senior Accountant with Apple, Koceja & Associates.  She has worked extensively in the private accounting sector as well as the public accounting sector.  Emily graduated from UNC Greensboro with a BS in Accounting. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her four children. She has a passion for helping victims of domestic violence and other traumatic circumstances.

Tamieka Howell, MD

Born in Phoenix, AZ, Dr. Howell is a board certified family physician. She holds a bachelor's degree in Physiological Sciences from The University of Arizona. She moved to North Carolina for residency training at Moses Cone Family Medicine after completing Medical School at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. In her 15 years in clinical practice with Novant Health, she worked in urgent care, served as Lead Clinician, and then started a family medicine practice where she cared for patients from newborn to end of life. She currently works for Wellcare of North Carolina assisting with medical necessity reviews while continuing to see patients part-time with Novant Health. Dr. Howell has several years of experience in advocacy work related to healthcare. She has spent time visiting lawmakers in Raleigh and Washington, DC advocating on behalf of patients, colleagues and the community. She serves on the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Commission on Members and Member Services. Also a past president of the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. Howell continues to sit on their board as an alternate delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates. She plays defensive end for the Carolina Phoenix women's tackle football team and enjoys swimming, tennis and spending time with friends and family.

SR Mardis, Captain
Stephanie Mardis has been employed with the Greensboro Police Department since March 1, 2002.  She currently holds the position as the Commanding Officer of the Criminal Investigations Division.  These squads include Homicide, Family Victim’s Unit, Robbery, Fraud, Criminal Intelligence, Commercial Property, Residential Property, Crimes Against Persons, Violent Crime Apprehension Team, and the Street Crimes Unit (2 squads).  She is originally from Tampa, Florida.  She attended Bennett College and received a B.S. in Biology (2000).  She also successfully completed the Administrative Officer’s Management Program at North Carolina State University in 2020.  She has been an active mentor with the African American Male Initiative (sponsored by Communities in Schools/United Way) for over 7 years, a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, 2nd Vice President of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (Triad Chapter), and serves a guest speaker in numerous community programs and non-profit organizations.

Michelle Gill Moffat

Michelle is the Youth Services Superintendent for Greensboro Parks and Recreation, where she oversees the development and implementation of programs for teens, as well as serves as a liaison for community initiatives such as Say Yes and Healthy Relationships Initiative. She has extensive experience in working with teens to provide them with opportunities for recreation, volunteering and advocacy.

Pilar Powell

​Pilar is a real estate consultant in Greensboro, North Carolina. She has been in real estate for over 15 years. She has moved and lived all over the world and thus this has made her bi-lingual in Spanish and proficient in several languages. She attended school at East Carolina University and UNC Chapel Hill. Since her relocation over eight years ago to the Triad area, she has shown her leadership and commitment to the Greensboro community. She is on the Associate Leadership Council for Keller Williams, the Greensboro Science Center board, and is a co-owner of Greensboro Real Estate Partners (Keller Williams Realty Greensboro North). She has also received Notable Latino of the Triad for 2013, 2015, and 2017. Whether relocating employees across the nation, or from the other side of the world, Pilar Powell will help tackle any relocation details. The“PILAR” in Home Sales team is the premier relocation resource!​

Wesley Reid
​​
Wesley retired from the City of Greensboro as Assistant City Manager in 2016.  He has extensive experience in the 911 field, previously serving as the founding Director of Guilford Metro 911, appointed to the State of North Carolina 911 Board, and served as President of the  NC Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials. He has served in a variety of volunteer positions, including the United Way Bryan Grant Committee, Public Technology Institute and Digital Bridges. He is married with two daughters and is currently doing part time consulting work in a variety of fields.    ​

Cary Root
Over the years, Cary Ann Root has been a  contributor to United Way, The Chamber of Commerce, Our Bi-Centennial, Big Brothers, Big Sisters and now on the Board for Kellin Foundation.  She thrives with working for women’s rights and children.  She is intelligent, creative and results driven.  In her career, her focus has been to support Human Systems in Organizations.  Although officially retired, she continues to support Staub Leadership International as a Strategic Solutions Partner.

Sari Rose
Sari Rose is the Director of the NC Fusion Foundation which is the outreach arm of NC Fusion Triad Inc.  She also serves as the Grassroots Coordinator for United States Youth Soccer.  Over the years, she has been engaged in various levels of soccer, but her passion is community youth sports development. She has been working in Greensboro for over ten years partnering with local organizations to create youth programs. These programs serve marginalized communities in Greensboro and use the power of sport to help cultivate personal and social responsibility with youth from elementary through high school and beyond.

Susan Shoemaker
Susan is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor currently practicing as a Life Coach for Optum. She has been a therapist for 23 years and attended her undergraduate program at Appalachian State University and graduate program at North Carolina A&T State University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration degree at Capella University. She has had extensive experience with children and families across levels of care, ranging from outpatient to secure residential treatment, and has been working in managed care for the past seven years.  In her treatment work, she specializes in trauma treatment and in complex needs children and adolescents. In her coaching work, she utilizes Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, and a mind/body approach to wellness. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, swimming, reading, live music, watching her daughter dance in ballets, and studying yoga.

Bob Higgins, Emeritus Board Member

Bob and his late wife Lindy Beauregard, co-founder of the Kellin Foundation, became Greensboro residents in 2004, where both continued their business careers-- Bob as consultant and volunteer and Lindy as an active participant in social services in the area.  Bob spent 40 years in pharmaceutical  sales and marketing, focusing on entrepreneurial companies.  


He continues to be actively involved in the business community as a volunteer with business counseling organizations.
