Help for the Helpers:  ​A Support Line for Medical Professionals and First Responders

We are always looking for additional volunteers! Help for the Helpers provides confidential listening and a holding space for medical and first responders as well as information referrals to the community for follow up care as needed.

Volunteer Requirements
  • 18 years of age
  • Caring, compassionate and willing to help those in crisis
  • Complete the volunteer onboarding orientation class
  • Be a mental health professional holding a current certification or licensure in the state of North Carolina
  • Must not have any past or current pending litigation related to their delivery of services
  • Be willing to provide a copy of your current professional liability coverage
  • Be willing to work as part of a team to assist our medical and first responders in the area
  • Be willing to provide at least 4 hours per week of volunteer support (time blocks arranged together based on schedule needs)

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Help for the Helpers Support Line.  To express initial interest in being a volunteer, please complete this initial Interest Form.  After you complete the form, our project coordinator will be in touch with next steps.

Recruitment Process
1.  Meet volunteer requirements and complete the initial Interest Form.
2.  Program coordinator will follow up to confirm interest and eligibility.  At that time, a link to the formal Volunteer Application will be provided. 
3.  Volunteer participates in Orientation and Training meeting.   
4.  Begin volunteering, staying closely connected with program coordinator regarding volunteer schedule.  ​
