Annual Impact Reports
A Message from the Executive Director and President of the Board
In 2019, we saw amazing growth and expansion of the number of people in our community that we were able to help because of YOUR assistance. These individuals are individuals who otherwise would not have had access to care. In 2019, our Treehouse Trauma Recovery Program became only the second center in the state of North Carolina recognized by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network as experts in treating children and families who experience or witness traumatic events. The NCTSN designation puts the Kellin Foundation among just over 100 such centers nationwide, which are designed to raise the standard of care and increase access to services for children and families who experience or witness traumatic events. Duke University’s National Center for Child Traumatic Stress, founded in 2001, is the other NCTSN center in the state. We also launched our Amanda Ireland Ward Scholarship Program, with applications coming in for our first scholarship receipt expected in the spring 2020. We expanded our Pinwheels for Prevention event and enjoyed our third Journey to Brave Fundraiser, Auction, and Benefit, with record attendance and extremely positive feedback. It was a smashing year of success and packed full of partners just like you! We look forward to making these annual events as they help us support our programs. Sometimes we are asked exactly what it is we do and who we are helping. We’re helping the four-year old who has been kicked out of their fourth daycare. We’re helping the business CEO who nobody knows is living in a violent relationship every day. We’re helping the first responders who struggle with what they see and hear every day in the jobs they do. We are helping the 17-year-old that’s been sexually assaulted multiple times and is trying to graduate high school. We’re helping the 15-year-old who is recovering from being humanly trafficked. We’re helping the cancer survivors and their families and loved ones. We’re helping the mom know how to best help her 21-year-old who is so strung out on drugs that she doesn’t know what to do. All of those are real situations we work with every day. We are honored to be able to help inspire hope and healing throughout our community. On behalf of the Board of Directors and amazing Kellin Foundation staff, we thank you for your important role in helping the Kellin Foundation build a resilient community. We cannot do this work without you. Every contribution, volunteer hour, and donation helps us to reach those who otherwise would not have access. You are a change maker. Dr. Kelly Graves Dwight K.
